After going to the Modern Britain 1900-1960 exhibition at NGV a few years ago I was really taken by the work of Augustus John, particularly his portrait of daughter
Poppet, which was used as the artwork on all the media for the show. John was a prominent artist in the early 1900s and lived the life of a gypsy. He was a polygamist, alcoholic and general eccentric a-hole, but it all added to the allure of this guy!
